i will do 2 15 mile rides at half throttle cool down between each one then a 20 mile run at 3/4-full throttle run and cool down and that should be fine shouldnt it

Is it a good idea to sand the outside of new rings a bit before fitting?

ive never heard of sanding the rings but i had heard of doing that to the barrel to bust the glaze as it helps new rings bed in

    agree on that one....

as for sanding the rings..they need to wear to the microscopic differences in the sides of the bore, thats why when you run them up to temp and cool down repeatedly the most wear of an engine occurs when its cold and things havent expanded to their running tolerances...hence they bed in. Its not good practice to thrash any engine til warmed up properly
