Guys now winter has come I want to move on with my Scomadi 172 conversion and now take it to the next level and fit a 55mm crank . Now is a 55mm crank different to any other meaning cost wise ? As pm tuning is £181 pound and if I shop around I bet I could buy one much cheaper ?

different qualities i should imagine. im not in the know with cranks but i could hazard a guess that they are made differently by different companies. steveP will pop by and give you a better answer soon i think

You'll need to have your kit/cases machined to use one.

It's not a bad mod but you don't gain very much power etc for the price, compared to other upgrades. Best left till you've upgraded literally everything else IMO

Top racing crank is perfect, they last longer than the pm/malossi ones..at least from my experience.

Also another tip, if you are getting any port work done, do not, I repeat, DO NOT send to SRT for the work done, you'll regret it almost instantly.

There's a person on facebook called Tom TC Tuning Cooper who does port/flow work and so on, people are getting 90+ mph with their 172's and his work doesn't look like its done with a hammer and chisel like SRT does. If you are wanting/willing to pay garage prices you could maybe give PSN Tuning a call but I wouldn't expect it to be cheap.

Rite parts arrived yesterday gone for 54mm tops racing full circle crank and pm tuning secondary gears . I've been told YOU don't need to get cases matched and barrel ported . You can still install a crank with out this work being done

standard crank is a 52mm I'm pretty sure you'll still need to do some mods to the casing, you'll be better of asking someone like Marsh/Stevep about this.
