I'm sure you cannot used wired earphones.

I personally do not like using earphones while riding.
I don't like not being able to hear my engine or any cars around me.. police cars etc.

theres no law, personally I do like to have earphones in whilst riding, BUT I only ever have one earplug in and its never on full blast, can always hear everything around me and can always hear the engine, just nice to listen to a little bit of music whilst riding, its one of those things that some people hate and some people like, ive been pulled a few times and ive always had earphones in and the police have never said anything about it.

Sorry, maybe I was wrong .

I suppose as long as the wires do not cause any problems your good.
In fact, now I think about it I, I had to wear a earpiece when I did my CBT.

just did a quick search just incase I was wrong, no laws against it, always a good idea to tuck any earphone wires under your jacket and whatever you do do not pull your ipod out at lights or whilst riding to change track, sounds silly but ive seen so many people doing it !
aslong as it isn't too loud theres not really any issues, each to their own.
I hated the earpiece on my CBT seriously hated it, it was so big it dug into my ear and gave me a frigging headache. but loved the fact my instructor couldn't hear what I was screaming back at them :)

when I got pulled for speeding and got my first 3 points the copper actually asked what I was listening to :)

Well I shouldn't imagine the volume level would make a difference legally, deaf people can drive.

Yes mine too, my ear was absolutely throbbing!

Im not one for loud music so I should still be able to hear the engine and traffic. It just gets a bit boring on long journeys and im tone deaf so my singing is dismal. It even p++ses me off.
    Cheers guys.

Personally guys I think it's one of the dumbest things you can do when riding a 'ped or motorcycle!,
Doing a cbt with phones in is one thing - that is a 'controlled' situation.,
Riding with phones in when bored on long trips - they may be boring as hell an
those cat's eyes can be monotonously mesmerising but it is also a dangerous distraction/i'd rather be bored as hell
than dead.........your body + mind physically/mentally respond to music an what might happen at one
moment might cause you to not be here the next!,
I never used h/phones when riding as I fully want all my wits about me when riding
    in all there capacity!.mk. ;) .

don't knock it if you aint tried it.
some people like it some people don't.
people think its dangerous, if your not stupid with it, it really isn't. aslong as you only have the one earphone in, music isn't on full blast and you can hear everything around you then theres no issues, ive been doing it since I started riding, not once lost concentration.
as I said if your listening to music full blast with both plugs in then yeah its dangerous but its not dangerous if you only have the one plug in and its not on that loud.
basically what your saying is its dangerous. okay then, if its so dangerous why are people aloud to play music whilst driving ?
if motorcyclists cant listen to music whilst riding then car drivers cant listen to the radio whilst driving.

Access to controls would be handy, so you could mute at the touch of a button.
Like the ipod/iphone earphones with the mic :)

I use a satnav, I bought one of those IPX7 cases for my iphone and use a TomTom app, there is also a headphone socket built in to it but I disconnected it as I modified it so I could charge it, but me personally would not listen to music on a motorbike, it fits onto the stem of the mirror and is very very handy, got me to Exeter and back.

you can get a 12v socket off ebay to keep it charged, just hooks straight to battery pretty much, plug a charger in just like a car, very handy, theres handlebar cases for ipods etc, then earphones from there if needs be, can see/hear it that way

i Personally find music keeps me more concentrated on longer rides than short onces as the sound from just the engine in my case the sound can be relaxing after a long steady sound so the music playing with differents sounds etc will keep me awake and more alert but i've not listened to music in over a year now while riding as i've had no need to

just fitted a 12 volt socket. to charge the satnav and mobiles. Although the voices really gets under my skin. Tried some music today. I could still hear the traffic and engine very clearly. Cant see any problems but everyone one to their own. Bloody boring world if we all thought alike.

i always ride with both headphones in at a low level ... low enough to know when someone is trying to talk to me

done it for about 8 years now on motorcycles from 125cc - 650cc ... even on my sports bike

never been a problem and never caused a problem ... i sometimes even forget ive got it on coz iam paying attention to wut iam doing with my driving

but in saying that if i was a cop id issue a fine for the ipod ... doesnt need to be on ... just fine ya for owning one lol (apple products are terrible)
