right if u just go buy a bike up the street from u, totaly legal and u push it home and as u get to a hill u sit on it since u can control it alot better and use the brakes more easy, if a copper stops u then looks at the bike and everything is fine except u aint insured can they take the bike of u legaly? even tho the engine isnt turned on?its just happened to this guy i know?pure bollocks if u ask me!!! :rtfm:
oh they took the bike of him and he has to pay £155 to get it back

nope, if he had the slip on him and he was pushing it on the path slow not rolling in the road or pavement then no, but they must of had a reason they cannot take the bike from you with out a good reason

the reason was he wasnt insured on it, and he was riding the bike since he was rolling down a hill on it :msn1:

if 2 feet are not on the floor your riding the bike.. if your uninsured they can crush it if they so please...

you should technically have insurance and a helmet to even push a bike tbh.. but if you buy it and walk it home its usually fine. fact is where was he walking it from and too? when did he buy it? did he have a recipt of purchace? was he being a little cock with the police?

a bike can be impounded if its parked on a pavement, being pushed or left on a road with no insurance. sounds like he caught a twatty copper on the day he got caught shagging his superiors wife but i reckon rolling down the road on it didnt help.

also if you push it onto your driveway with no tax it can be conviscated

unless its a locked garage its considered part of the public highway

unlucky but the laws the law... :msn1:

if he can prove insurance then he can have his bike back as they should give him a 7 day producer and make him either leave the bike or push it home.

if your sitting on the bike weather its running or not, its still classed as riding a motor vehicle

to ride a motor vehicle you need a licence that intitles you to side one of that cc, tax, mot and motor insurance.

the bike will/can be taken from you and impounded, to release the bike you have to take all you documents and pay a fine and may appear in court and receve points and a further fine

so yeah they can take it if you sitting on it, if the judge is a cunt (if they go to court) he might get you for careless riding and something else, cant remember now, because he didnt have a helmet on

police are cunts i agree, i had one copper when i was younger who kept harassing me, really badly, id get searched every time he say me on the side of the road or on a street which isnt allowed! he was a right fucker, snide punches in my sides and poking me

but then i moved away and didnt see him for years! went back there a few weeks ago to do my CBT and hes the manager!!! :w00t: but he waqs being dead nice and having a gigle with me

i think they just got picked on in school and having a badge gives them the power to pick on us(members of the public)

the local plods round here find it ammusing to just follow me on my scooter then pull me for the most anal thing they can, last week it was dirt on my rear reflector.

the week before i think it was my numberplate light was out.

then the tax van pulls be up every time wanting to see my liscence. just leave me alone!!!!

you can do a citisens(spelling) on coppers i think? so if they keep harrasing you place them under arrest for harassment

i think its funny tbh when they constantly try to get you for something, i had one follow me down a dis-used railway track once. all because my rear light had "smoked lenses"

didn't know they were available for the area51.

A bike/motor vehicle shouldn't even be parked on the road without tax, and probably insurance aswell.

I was once delivering to a ferry. The car park / ferry que were 5m accross a small public road from the link span. The customer taking it back home on the ferry was being a bit gobby while waiting (bragging out loud) and the local traffic warden overheard him. Traffic warden was wanting to block him from getting on the ferry as technically the untaxed bike would be breaking the law if pushed 5metre accross the public road. I just left them to it!
Apparently the warden phoned the other side to check the lad wasn't gonna ride it away

Moral of the story is keep a clean bike and your mouth shut ;)

i woke up one morning to find my runner had been stolen.i reported the bike missing to the police..later that day the police found my bike dumped 10 minutes walking distance from my house..so they took it to derby recovery without ringing me 1st..i had to pay £150 quid to collect my won bike..its a piss take..

then one day i went to mot my vespa but it want taxed but i was insured on it.... we all know that your insured without tax to ride it to the mot station and back.. my bike passed the mot.i pulled out of the mot station and got 30 seconds down the road.a copper steps out and says u have no tax pull in there.. i explained about the tax and shown them my fresh mot certificate that i had recieved 30 secs ago..the coppers was still going to do a road safety check on the bike..there dumb as fuck..i even blaaged not haveing a rear L plate lol....if you talk to them with a bit of respect and dont mouth off you will normally blag it..BUT THERE STILL CUNTS
