    Hey guys

could anyone give me an idea of how to get the variator bolt off on my nrg power dt? I have bought a variator stopping tool which grips on the teath ov my variator but it just snaped the variator and clutch cover bolts. i have heard an impact driver will do the trick.

    many thanks

    Ash

to use to tool i bought you have to put it on the teath of your variator then bolt it to the fixings that your variator cover would bolt to but the fixings just snaped :( .

Do you mean an air powered gun or the impact driver you hit with a hammer?

    thanks

Spray some WD40 on the nut
i believe people use the electric impact gun

It's not a good idea to use the one you hit with a hammer
Theres also other ways of locking the variator like:

putting strain on this area of the engine is a no no. if the casing snapped using the locking tool it was ether not used correctly or morew than likely the variator has been done up with an airgun at some point and is obviously too tight. you need to use an impact wrench then redrill your locking tool holes so you can use it on another part of the engine. then using a TORQUE wrench tighten the bolt to the ammount stated in the manual. use locktite and it will be fine.

I used a torque wrench on mine and was told to set it to 40nM
then it came loose a few weeks later :(

Can anyone tell me the right torque setting? Or was it because i didnt use loctite?

has to be with a new bolt and a little locktight if setting to correct tention. better than broken cases/threaded crank's tho
