    seems since putting my new engine in the scoot will start with no key, any ideas where to look for first

    have you earthed everything properly mate
    mine did the same thing but i sorted the earths and boom
    where bouts in gateshead are you ?

    cheers mate, i'll take a look, i did think earths but wanted to get an idea first, think theres something near the key too.

    chances are theres a plug connecvtor you havent installed.. do the lights work? might want to just change the stator from the old engine over if you cant find anything obviousl;y wrong.. count/colour the wires comming from each engine

    sorry for the late reply.

    didnt get a stator with the other engine, possibly is a connector, everything works but the switch.

    i have another off a diff scoot to try tommorow

    does your ignititon have 4 wires coming out of a connector block and a loose black and white wire? if so check the CDI and make sure that black and white wire is connected near were it runs to the CDI
