Hi guys haven't been on here for sometime hope you're all well.. Anyways time to get technical. I have a Lightspeed 2 125cc and an issue with my left hand side indicator. My LH Front indicator only seems to want to work occasionally and cuts out when I turn to the left. The rear indicator works fine everytime (as does the whole of the RH side indicators) The rear LH side indicator flashes twice as fast when the front cuts out, but then returns to normal once the front works again. I have checked the bulb and it's not that, there is only 1 fuse from the battery which is fine (or the other indicators wouldn't work) so what's the cause of this? Any ideas? Thanks.
Would a bad earth just stop the front indicator from working and not them all from working? The front left hand side will work sometimes and not others, usually when turning left. When the handle bars are centred it works. Where would I find this earth to check please?
Thank you SteveP I'm currently taking the front off my bike, the LH side indicator wires are orange & green. Which then go into a bulk of wires and then split off again to the front & rear of the bike. What kind of thing should I be looking for? All wires look clean and secure. No cuts or cracks can be seen in the wire loom (bike only just a year old) What colour would the earths be? Pictures to follow!
For fault finding would it be ok to connect the RH side front indicator to the LH side to see if it's that at fault?
One side tends to be orange and green, the other is usually blue and green. Orange and blue are the +ve wires, Green is earth. They are the same front and rear. Also check the indicator switch and WD-40 some sense into it to clean the connections, as oxidation and water/crud can cause the switch not to work properly.
Thank you for the reply after some multi metering and bits, I found that the wires (indicator left hand) were being pulled tight, when I turned my handle bars in a certain direction, in the main bulk head of wires if that makes sense! So I gave the indicator wire some slack and it seems to be working fine. I guess it was either pulling at the connection under the headstock or pulling at the indicator switch itself. It seems to have worked what I did today mind you.
