increase in spam

    ok, i can see that the site is becoming a spam bot target. how about putting a security picture in the sign-up to stop bots signing up.

    There already is one. There always has been one too.

    A simple way of stopping it is to use email verification. A few people had problems with it or were just to dumb to use a valid email so we had to turn it off.

    There are other things we can do that i already looked into but they take quite a bit of effort to implement.


    For the time being i will turn on email verification while i work out the other ways of stopping it.

    ok terro, just thinking it's getting a bit out of hand, i bet it's taking up loads of admin/mod time.

    Only takes about 5 seconds to delete a post and remove a user. I have seen an increase in bots in the last few days though.

    I have now done a fix that should stop them but only time will tell.

    I have turned off user activation again while we are seeing if this works.

    I found a good way to stop most spammers on my forum is to add them to the ban list:
