Increase Acceleration by lowering gear?

Will you get stronger acceleration from stand still, by gearing down? You will of course rev higher, which means reach top rpm at lower speed - decreasing scooter top speed. Lower rpm at same power = more torque = better acceleration, I guess?

Ie. you gain speed faster, but your limit is lower. Better acceleration = Lower top speed. Yes? Or No?

    Why:
I am looking at gilera 180, and I know gilera 125 have same engine apart from cc, variator and gear. I guess they accelerate the same despite gear difference, since 180 is more powerful - 180 puts all its power into top speed compared to 125, instead of acceleration. I want to move it into acceleration instead. By putting 125 gearing in 180. Would it work out? (I would also put malossi 172, maybe other exhaust, reeds, carb and probably mod air box).

I dont give a baloney about speed above 60mph. I give many baloneys about red light getaways.

im not to upto date with scooters myself but maybe adding a lower weighted roller set would engage quicker.

ie, less weight means the engine revs higher and the take off is some what more snappy , so going from like a 13g roller to something like a 10g roller , dont sound a lot but a couple grams less weigh has a big impact on take off as your getting revs up higher before that clutch starts to sink in and bite fully ?

i learnt gear up kits mean you loose some lower end and gain a higher top end but could be offset a bit by some roller weight adjustments, be more easy than yanking out the rear box and swapping over gear sets
