Can anyone tell me if I de-restrict a Tecnigas Silent Sport exhaust will it sound louder? And how much more power would it give?
    Cheers,
    Jools

I "didn´t really" ;), what I did was, I drilled out the washer at the cylinder end by a about 5mm. I don´t really think this changed much but I suppose every little helps somewhere down the line. Sound wise, I can´t hear any difference.

Ok, did it improve the speed or acceleration? I think mine has been removed but still seems restricted is there another restrictor?

Hi Jesse, I can´t really say if it has given me a better performance because I´ve been battling with my variator and belt for a while now. I changed the original variator because it showed major sign of wear and then I was sold one which turned out to be a standard variator for a 125cc and now I´m using a cheapish one I got off Ebay. The latest one seems to be working well although I have to fit a new belt because the last one put way too much wear on it.

In saying this though, I can easily hit 50km/h on the flat and nothing other than the exhaust has been fiddled with (I still have the restrictor washer on the variator and I´m actually using slightly lighter rollers which should give me better acceleration up hills). Hill tackling is still the thorn in my side but hopefully with a new belt fitted and maybe even lighter rollers, 5,75g instead of 6,0g, I´ll see an improvement. The stock weight is 6,5g so I´m just trying out different weights for at least 200km so I can get a bigger picture in different weather conditions and driving both long and short distances both in the countryside and city.

Some exhausts have a baffle tube inside the actual exhaust itself, if you search on YouTube then you can see what I mean.
I read somewhere that the exhaust exit port could also be made bigger but I´m not taking any chances doing this simply because the police over here look for this kind of thing if and when they stop a scooterist. The fines are hefty and you can loose your car license if you´ve modified your 50cc scooter in anyway.
    :)
