idle problem

My idle runs high for 30 seconds then drops real low for 30 seconds or so the back to high then low and so on. Any suggestions?

 

Sounds like an air leak. when did this start?

 

maybe a few weeks ago

 

is the spark plug a grey/white colour?

 

white if I remember correctly but that's brand new this seemed to start after I pulled out the pin inside the carburetor to check it out I accidentally put the white plastic piece on top of the spring instead of underthen when I figured that out and put it back together right the idle would just go up and down family steadily so I assume it might be the fuel pump may be going or if it has an engine idle thermostati coil that might be going

 

I think you need to have a good look at the carb and make sure the needle is put in properly.
