Well today i was fiddling with my carb as i have a e5 airfilter i have a 91 jet but kinda splutters guessing over fueling or sumit but anyways i turned the idle screw away from my self (to the left) 1/2 turn then 1 turn then upto 2 turns my bike got worse so i turned it to normal then 1/2, 1 turn etc upto 2 turns and it is running good but i thought you guys said turn it about 1 1/2 screws to the left it just made my bike worse so this is all i wanted to no why my bike runs good when turning it the other way thanks.

When I had a big jet and open filter, i had the mixture screw in pretty much all the way.... just cracked.....

still miles too rich down low, even with an 80 jet.....

now ive got a 74 and the airbox back on, and it behave much better....mixture screw is about a full turn out.

sounds ok to me, screwing the (small) idle screw in richens the mix,

and screwing out, weakens the mix ;)

look, lean or rich means fuck all.. just find where it runs best. its only the idle mix.

someones poking minor with a stick.....

anyway...he is right... it only comes into action at idle.....

your not going to damage the engine etc as the fuel mixture on throttle is determined by the main jet.

I took a c.o meter to mine last summer and on a Dell 20.5mm carb screwing in richened the mixture and screwing out weakened the mixture ;)

which as it goes was the opposite to what i was expecting, as car carbs work in the opposite manner!!!

so i would presume the idle mixture screw on a Dell 20.5mm works like an Air bypass screw...(screwing in shuts the air off/richening the mix and vice versa) :D

And just for the record bogging can mean too rich a mixture as well as too lean!!

Also applies to an engine that pulls harder on 3/4 throttle and bogs on w.o.t,
can be too lean as well as too rich ;)

ok thanks it is running seriously smooth atm so thats good the only slight problem is it will not idle if i sloww down for say.. some traffic light the bike will just slow down then finally cut out like i have switched the bike off and in the morning it idles high for about 2 minutes then drops and cuts out i have fiddled with the idle screw but not much happened :(

thats exactly wot happened on mine after i had fiddled around with the idle mix, mine cut out becus everytime the revs droped it wud be runnin rich and my filter was gettin soaked! still does it actually but im gonna get a 70kit soon so i may aswell leave my bike running rich for a bit and hopefully it will run fine for the 70kit wivout a jet change :D

my aerox is doing the same and its only got 800km on it, when i turn it on cold it is quick as fuck but when it warms up the acceleration is really slow and then if i leave it it will eventually die out, it will only drive on full throtle as well  never used to be like it
