it all happenend so quickly. and i dont even know what caused it? i was basically riding to college , i was near parliament square and i wasnt even slamming the brakes or nothing the front wheel just slipped next thing i see is my beloved ped lying there on the ground. weirdly i didnt even go to ground somehow, i was just stood up lucky there was no car behind me........can someone give me an explanation because im baffled the front whell just locked up i dont think it slipped on ice......maybe it was a bit of diesel on the ground?? Luckily though i wasnt hurt
happened to me, i knew the traffic lights were about to change so i sped up, they changed quicker than i thought, slammed on the breaks but without slipping, until i nearly came the a stop and the front wheel slipped off the the right, some how i caught it lol
unlucky mate but it happens all paart off riding a bike suppose thre kind positive to a step through bike you can easily fling your legs through
same happened to me, my front wheel slipped of the right...........lol i guess it's just a part of riding
part of the package mate! a rule i go by, never use your front break! with my rear drum break in the snow it's quite fun lol. ive had to run a odd red light (amber but then quikcly red and i miss it by an inch and obvo cant slam breaks in ice) when the roads were dry around nov a lil bit wet though i put my front break in and momentum built up your wheel locks up and flicks u over and next thing u know your sliding with your bike never fell off since lol just don't put ur front break on hard, ease on both your breaks, back break first... (this works for me i have never come off yet and this weather is so bad im surprised considering i fell off before, so dont rage at me saying im wrong i dont give 2 shits as i aint come off since)
ye i usually do.. however after its first service i think they did something to the back brake because it is shit now for some reason....i think it needs to be tightened
lol dont think they would make it worse if theyre meant to be servicing it cratch: with drums i find the cable is usually the problem, and the arm bit gets stiff after a while aswell so take that off and give it a clean.. tightening it up only works for a while then it gets worse than before.
break rear first? fuck me your a danger to yoruself..... if its icey your gonna have less traction, using the breaks even softly will result in loosing front traction. you lost front traction and kept on the break... this is why you came off. use the FRONT BREAK FIRST, the rear accounts for FUCK ALL breaking on a bike... literally FUCK ALL. stopping distance using the front only and then the front and rear are prittymuch identical. basic rule is if it slips at the front get off the break and genetally back on, if its icey give yourself a BIG distance, you should bearly be using your breaks in the ice. should be prittymuch coasting to a stop. (easy if you give yourself enough space) dont just yank the back break to stop... greg, you aRE an idiot and advice like this ends up wiht dead people.
ive always been told ease on both breaks... and that the front break is more effective (so just as dangerous if not used properly, right?) and you have more chance of locking your front wheel in the ice, so i ease on both of them, afterall speaking from experiance ease on the front break it has locked up and i have been flipped off, im always coasting to a stop anyway but when im unable too. i ease on both.
whats that then? contradicting yourself... and giving out poor advice. about somthing you know nothing of (wiht your cbt) once again.... dont put your rear on first, it makes your bike VERRY unstable when you do apply the front.. soft on the front, THEN on the rear (if atall) build pressure on the levers... the back brake is ONLY used to keep the rear whel on the ground under heavy breaking... thats IT skidding about in the snow may be fun... doesent make it legal nor make it good advice to be telling people... once again, your advising people to break the law. wich will upset our hosts.. befor you post, ask yourself this.... "is my post NEEDED, will my post be missed? is my post relevent" if you can answer yes to all 3 of these feel free to post... the other 99% of the time just dont. this is what winds me up.. alot of you see this place/forums as msn/place for random conversation.. what good is that when people read back? forums are for learning/teaching.. if your not doing ether then maybe you should be using your time a little better... im not even being picky about it.. look through old posts, people looking for clutch spring settings and get you chatting shit about how your clutch is blah blah totally irelevently.. or this.. correct breaking technique, taught by a 16 year old who admitedly fell off his bike and has bearly completed compulsary basic traning. go on, right now, look up ALL your posts (function is in your profile)_ just SEE how much irelevent/un needed/pointless shit you have put up... its obvious, your bored and have nothing better to do, not my problem, constantly having to correct your poor advice/delete random conversation IS my p[roblem and once again im typing page afterr page, irelevently, to you...because your bored and post for no reason other than to post...
Just for the record minor, your host would not get fussy about someone on a forum instructing someone on which brake leaver to use primarily in adverse weather conditions. If your host does, you should look for another one. I've ran and hosted many websites, even self-hosted before. Never had any complaints from my hosts, and i've used videos and images without the express permission of the holder, also provided downloads etc and not had a problem. Ranged between free and paid hosts. So on that note, you should have nothing to worry about their.
minor are you high?? gregzz is right ....using the front brake disturbs the balance of the scooter youre also more prone to slip if you just use ur front brake..........you really think you know it all dont you just because ur a moderator.................. :beee:
i wouldnt advise it it will be dangerous but if you've ever tried riding a bike just using a rear break you find how different you can ride a bike as in fling it into corners and breaking later as the front will stop you and i dont think rossi would agree that using the back brake is anywhere near efficient so dont slate the facts? i think its proven in how often you change your front break pads in comparrison to the back break (my front being changed twice as often )
yeah the front brake is much more effective than the back brake but for thinga like turning then back brake is only option.
i dunno man.. i hardly use the front tbh. only when i wanna slow down frm high speeds in a straight line
are you retarded the back brake locks up easy as for turning corners you obviously cant ride i only ever use back break under heavvy brakeing. you need to learn to ride tbh
Gotta fail hard if your using the back brake mostly... As minor said it's only for keeping the bike up when using the front brake aka stopping you going over. Back brake is for wheeling and stopping your forks bottoming out when your using your front brake. Easy to see... Sit on your bike and hold the front brake and see how you can bounce the forks by putting weight over them then try with both brakes on. Anyway as minor said in the wet/ice/snow you should be aiming not to use the brakes really at all. Whole thing about using a back brake in the corners is a load of shit too. Even worse on a big bike where you don't actually have the feel of how much pressure you are putting onto the rear brake.
