I could, could meaning I have the resources and the skills, and would, would meaning if there was enough people interested and willing to write up a few things, like guides, reviews, etc etc - I'd publish a magazine, a scooter magazine of course.

If theres actually any interest in this, I'll give it a go.
(Yes, I just finished reading minors twistngo rant).

no offence, but you fdont have the rescorces to create a magazine.. online mags rarely work.

ive been thinking alot about this and the best way would just be tot ake the burden of a monthly release and maybe just submit articals (whoever wants to) on whatever you like that we can put on the main site.. be it a review of a new product youve try'd out or an event youve attended.. basicly all the shit that should be in a mag. we have a members rides and could easily put a little project story in there (like a feture) and everyone has always been welcom to submit there own. we wont ever have a continuouse mag as advertising pays people full time wages and thats what it takes to put a mag togehter, lots of people working long hard weeks..

nice idea, but i hate to nock you down. feel free to submit an artical or 20 to admin@scootershack.co.uk and we will happily create a "mag" section and add them as people write them. see how much interest comes of it. if we get lots of articals/interest/views then maybe a couple years down the line you can just approach a publisher wiht the numbers and they willl go "ye, lets do it, get a team together" as thats the only real way any mag is gonna make it, its multi million pound media buissness your trying to compete with/get into as an indevidual afterall, not impossible, but pritty fucking close.

this go's to everyone, start writing. you never know who may be reading it ;) theres 4 times as many visitors to the site as there are members and a hell of alot more lerkers than active posters (my fault im sure) but hey, the shack's hardly a minority club/site.. thousands of people DO log on. you can reach out to them one thing at a time. obviously editorial rights will eb our own as we have copyright/hosting conditions to adhere to aswell as my dislike for certian company's/products but im sure 99% of what people can come ujp with can be edited up nicely and thrown up. get to work ALL OF YOU :D the scene isnt what it is from people doing nothing afterall..

what, got a couple million lying about have you? cant get a mag in shops for less than a mill simple as... can try the same route as petrol mag but it was panflet sized and still cost 30 odd thousand for the 6 issues that were ever released.. its just not as easy/cheap as people would think

You need the money to make money, how are you going to employ writers, editors, photographers, designers, etc?

Seeing as I work in the same team as people who do publishing plus we have 3 full time graphic designers I thought i'd give you a proper indication on prices for print...

If you go for a run of about 30,000 per mag which sounds about right to me if you want to put them in bike shops etc.. Then your looking at around £150,000 for 12 issues on pretty crappy paper but at least it will be on A4 with quite a few pages.

Designing for print is a totally different thing than designing for the web. You work with much bigger files, need much better pictures, use different software, have to have spot on templates in place with all the crop marks etc. etc. etc...

Oh and a photographer for the day is going to be about £1000 for anyone worth using.
