How to spray pipe ?

Hi guys, sprayed my pipe about month or 2 ago metallic black which is more like a silver colour and the rust is starting to come through.

I bought some VHT black paint today from halfords cas i want to make it look better but how do I get a good finish as I dont want the rust to come through again. I did use a wire brush and sand it last time but i dunoo if i done it properly.

You will never stop the rust, just keep painting it every other month.

No! only if you get the pipe galvanised or plated from new.

 

how much dooes that cost ? and if i chrome it will it still rust ?

 

Depends how much you clean it. Just buy a new pipe if your fussy

 

why would I buy a new pipe lol its perfect but the rust. I can deal with it until I get my 70s when ill buuy a yasuni R anyway

 

If youll get it chrome plated itll cost a bomb! Just spray it an put vht laquer over f ypu can buy it

 

Chrome platers won't touch a used pipe .

 

Hate it when people say how can i get rid of rust?! Simple answer is You Cant! well you can scrape it all off but it will come back. if you really wanted to take care of your exhaust buy a new one and clean it after every ride! dont go saying its effort blahh blahh blahh because its as much effort as spraying! ive got chrome giannelli exhaust and still not rusted as i clean it regualar!

 

Steel cannot rust in the absence of oxygen so unless the heat proof paint seals out oxygen it will rust again .
You could try using one of the rust convertors before repainting but I don't know how they would react to the heat.
