Hello everyone iv just brought another air cooled zip to get to work on iv built 70cc zips befor using malossi parts but this time i fancy a stage 6 sport pro kit i was just wondering if anyone can explain how to set cylinder squish i usually just use any base gasket out the 3 that come with the kit because i didnt no why you had different ones lol but now i realise its to do with squish and there different thickneses so can someone please explain how to set squish and the best way to go about it thanks matt

When i did my zip i used the middle of the three gaskets.
Basically the squish puts the crown of the piston nearer the firing point of the spark plug. But too close and it will detonate too close to the piston and burn a hole through the top. So i would always err on the thicker size of gasket unless you are building a high performance jobbie.
There is a thorough explanation of the squish on here somewhere, but damned if i can find it.

Ok thanks mate i think ill just use the thickest out the 3 then and play it safe is there a noticeable performance difference with a cylinder thats had the squish set correcty ? Thanks matt

Use the middle size gasket, you get the best of both worlds then. It's highly unlikely that you will notice the difference unless the engine is highly tuned.

ive never set the squish on a scoot, you cant feel the difference because of the way the cvt works, on a geared bike you can, buts its so minimal its hardly worth it. but like steve says go with the middle gasket, i think they only give the differnt ones for if you have a high end motor.
