how do i polish my sidecasing i have a dremmel with pollishing thing and a grinder....it has been painted btw
first strip all the paint off with nitromorse. Then you'll need a mop in an electric drill to cut back the alu (you'll be there for weeks with the demmel but it'll be good for the nooks where the bolts go etc) otherwise its wet and dry going in finer grades by hand til you get to the shine...either way its dirty and time consuming to get it right Hes the top yolk I did with a mop last summer and the swing arm for my EXUP...took ages
Mop as in a cloth (sisal) wheel that attaches to a drill. You get kits off ebay like this to do it; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Metal-Pol...476?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item45f8fab1ac Otherwise what he said - wet and dry (going down in finer grades) using metal polish. "Autosol" is a good polish.
i bet that swing arm took an age!!! i use sandpaper, going from low grade numbers all the way to 1200-2000. then after that i pull out the dermal and metal polish. i never get a perfect finish but it shines lol
I did my grab rail a few months ago. Wasn't as tricky as its much zsmoother. Stripped paint then 120 to 1800 grit by hand and buffed it with compound on drill mop. I polish it once a month it's still nearly like new.
