How to measure pickup voltage?

Hi all,

I have a vespa GT 125LC there is no spark.

The workshop manual says to check the pickup voltage when cranking over the engine and should be greater than 2v.

I would assume AC but manual says DC.. on DC it's about 0.3v AC I can't remember but nowhere near 2v. This is tested directly on a new and old stator and pickup.

Any tips greatly appreciated.
