my mate gave me his used typh 125 cylinder, and i got hold of a new piston kit for 33 quid, got rings on, just wondering do i put the arrow facing towards exhaust port or towards top of cylinder, this is my first time fitting a piston kit so could really do with a step by step guide if possible
Arrow to the exhaust. I would suggest putting the piston slightly into the barrel, put a piston circlip in one end, then slide the whole thing over the barrel studs after putting the small end bearing in the crank, line it up, push in the gudgeon pin, put in the other circlip, push it all the way on. Make sure you check the cylinder condition before putting it together though bud.
put some raw 2stroke on the small end bearing (the 1 that goes in the conrod) also put some on the sides of the piston and inside the barrel to prevent scoring you will also need to run the engine in
The running in doesn't exactly matter, it's a used barrel, only a new piston. Don't worry about the running in really. if it was a full new kit then yeah a little bit of running in would be helpful.
