basically i am really indesicive! iv now got a job, and not sure on what to get, i will be getting around £320 a month will go up with overtime (tesco FTW ) and what i wanted to know was how easy is it to put on a MHR rep kit or polini evo, put on a bigger inlet, new reeds carb etc. and all the other tuning? i am starting my motorbike mechanics course on the 8th so i shoulod have a bit experience but not neccesarily scooters. and i would use my curent bike to go around on and buy the other one so i can still ride about! was thinking of MAYBE a aerox (god forbid me) maybe a typh, a runner (not sure because they look on the heavy side tbh) or maybe a older SR and can make it just barely road legal lol, but the parts are easy if they have the minrelli engine and i would also do some panel mods to get a nice look on it
Can I just ask you summin? Where did you find the motorbike mechanics course? Thats what I wanna do LOLOLOOLOL
theres only a few in the country who do motorcycle... none of its 2t or scoot relevent but still usefull and the guys know there shit whatever you ask em. the best in the country is merton college (10 mins from me really) but ye back on topic tunning is a case of bolting things together and setting them up. hard tuning as you put it is doing a fair bit of guesswork aswell as making things that shouldent fit fit... just build yourself a good strong bolt on bike with whatever parts you can afford (the bigger the bill the faster it goes) then get reading.. enlarging inlets is a waste of time with a minerali, there huge anyway. alot of other stuff you can just forget for now aswell as the likes of polini make kits/cranks so you dont have to understand anything, just bolt it together then set it up. if the most expensive engine out there isnt fast enough you have to get thinking/grinding. other than this its a case of money money money. get spending
hi, thanks minor! is it easy to fit a crank and 70 kit ? as thats what will be brought first. i can do stuff like variator, pipe etc. just was wondering about the kit as i dont want to mess a perfectly good engine up
the kits are easy to fit, the crank however takes a bit more skill, if uve never done it before it might be worth thinking of getting a bike shop to just put the crank in and alighn it for you then you can build the rest of the engine knowing that the cranks in there correctly.
I payed 80quid for a full rebuild But i payed 50pound at first for just a crank .. ask wobbly im sure he would do the crank ? and the ktis are easy to fit . just carefull on the rings and the G clips tha you dont loose em lol and dont snap em
you could always pay someone to fit your crank and stick around and watch while they do it, that way youll see how its done and maybe have a go at it on a different engine.. preffereably a mate with an aerox
Your best bet in my books is to get a Gilera Stalker/SKP and tune that using MHR rep or Polini Corsa cylinders, reason being that if you're using it daily then you probably have long lasting on your agenda too. Also 320 quid a month will probably get a complete setup in 3 months (my setup wishlist came to 765 ish). Get the cranks fitted otherwise that could fuck the whole lot up, and then bolt on and ride. Fuck spending all my hard earned money on a scooter, i have booze to drink and birds to shag ! ! !
