I was removing the oil drain plug in a restricted space when all off a sudden the plug shot off in to the drainage container along with a spring and a thimble shaped mesh filter with a rubber seal on the end. It came out so fast i did not get a chance to see which way it went.

Looking at it I think the rubber seal on the mesh filter was at the top with the rounded part of the mesh dropping in to the middle of the spring. The spring has a tapered end which looks like it rests on the top of the drain plug.

Does this sound correct? I would be glad of any advice as I do not want to put it in wrong and risk damage. Thanks in advance
