Depending on the type you either have to disassemble your gear box and either fit the new pre-pressed gears or disassemble one of your gears and press the new one onto it and then fit the gears.

You need a press as the way you fit the gears together involves a huge amount of force.

Basically it's either a simple job if you buy a pre-pressed gear up kit or a job that's not something you can do at home.
