firstly make sure all the bolts are absolutely out....may sound silly but sometimes you miss 1 (ive done it) and you may have to stick a thin flat head screw driver at the back of the case, and gently but firmly prise the bearing that sits inside the case off the clutch input shaft
if its reallllly stiff i usually take off the hub and give the shaft a little tap with a hammer and it pushes it all out
same as above as you need to take the wheel off anyway to get the gears out give the output shaft a wobble and it should brake the seal remember that you put gasket selant around the gearbox cover so sometimes it sticks to the case i wouldnt use a flat head as it 'could' cause damage to the case if your not carefull. and make sure that there are no bolts left
aahh sorry if you read my reply, i thought he was talking about the transmission cover :hmm: yes in that case do not use a screw driver as if you damage the mateing surfaces, you may find the gearbox is no longer oil tight... as the other 2 said really :grin:
