so im trying to find some place that sells the tool to get this crappy designed filter off ..
i believe its a flat head socket.. but cant find one anywhere ..

i would smash a screwdriver thru it and twist it off, but the new filter has the same crappy design..what a joke..
    please help

I use a pair of swan neck/pipe pliers, what ever you want to call them to undo it, then re-fit with some oil in it and on the seal face, just hand tight then I fit a 50-55mm Jubilee clip around it and butt it up to the engine case so it can't come undone. (belt n braises)

I use one of these as they'll fit many sizes. Or if the filter is a small diameter a pair of adjustable water pump pliers

remember to smear some oil around the seal on the new filter before refitting....plus it only needs to be hand tight. If it leaks then tighten a bit more

can you not get a length of flat bar between the 2 lugs on the end and lever it around?

not really, as you can see in the pic its kinda rounded edges so it slips out plus its an old rusty filter so even shallower than on the pic, its a feckin terrible design..

they say you use a screwdriver, use the long part if that makes sense? best to buy yourself a strap wrench. oh and if you have a pm exhaust fitted, good luck! (the pipe sits in the way!)
