i havent got a buzz gun and one of my clutch springs have snapped ...anyway i can get it off with basic tools
make something like this out of two bits of bar and 3 bolts. Doube up on the top bolts and leave them sticking out so you can locate them in the holes in the outer clutch bell. Make the long arm too long so it catches on the floor. This will stop the drum rotating...then you can undo the nut
I got a oil filter tool or something from halfrds for 6 quid. It works like pliars an has grippy bits on an you hold them around it an undo it fits perfect too
If you work on your bike alot a impact wrench (even the £30 rac one) is essential imo. Inmost cases anything else is 2nd best and some what bodge really
Beedspeed do these for only a tenner; http://beedspeed.com/product_info.php?cPath=80_164&products_id=263 I use one of these to undo, and a torque wrench to tighten. I've also used the belt strap/boa method on the past but it can slip and take a few attempts.
u33db IMHO, only a tenner is good...2 bits of scrap bar and 3 bolts from the spares tub is better especially if you're on a tight budget. £10 on tools would keep some of the lads around here on the road for a week in petrol. I'm not dissin buying the right tools if you can afford it and will use them on a regular basis tho'...my own collection has been built up over the last 40+ years. Its got to the point where its taking over and if my beter half ever found out what I spend on them, i'd be a dead man
No thats fair point mate - totally agree. P.S take the garage keys off her and she'll never find out - its worked so far for me!
I just hold back brake and hit spanner with a rubber mallet and for variator wedge something like a wrachet handle behind it
i surpose that point is always overlooked. and if im honest i got my first impact wrench free cause i couldnt afford one at the time on jobseekers allowence
have a look at my homemade tools haha the one with the circle thing doesnt work correct though... needs a makeover since its a pain in the ass to undo and do the bolt
