Hi all i'm 17 in 3 months i cant wait! :w00t: and i am going to buy a honda cbr as it seems a nice bike to learn on and i like the look of them alot of people wont agree, but anyway the question i was going to ask is that if i derestrict the CBR will i still be legally able to ride it? if not whats a restricted cbrs speed like? sorry may seem a stupid question but i'm new to scooters/bikes only been riding mine for a year now Thank you!!
i dont think cbr's are powerful enuff to be restricted??? may be wrong tho only 125's that are restricted are 2 stroke aprillia rs/derbi gpr's as they produce more than 15bhp... sam imp:
ye, which is pretty crap for a geared 125...........fuck it mate and go 2t like me, either a mito, rs, or a derbi gpr had a go on a mates dt125, first time using gears, first ride and i was in 5th doing 70 haha, so much more fun with gears, pick up on his dt is fucking amazing, thats why im going 2t
I got a cbr myself mate, i love it, regardless of how slow it maybe compared to others, mine does about 60-65 on a normal day, will do 70 tucked under the tiny little screen, i have a 14tooth front sprocket on mine, rather than a 15, it accelerates faster, and lets it drive thorough 6th rather than dying out. You cant really do many go faster mods, but for what it is, its a good bike to learn on.
right, jokes aside, the CBR is a good all round bike, the performance isn't anything to get excited about as the engine design is 40 years old, however it is bullet proof. they are pretty good through the twisties but if you are used to a 2 stroke then the low down power and the engine braking will catch you out. personally they aren't my cup-of-tea but i know from experience working on them that they are well put together and will outlive any RS, Mito, GPR etc... the onlt 125 i would have abouve those is the TZR and the RD but being 2 stroke the reliability then becomes an issue if you are using the bike to commute. the CBR is a very good all rounder and will thrash 50s and 70s. but put it up against any other 125 and prepare to bve disappointed.
They look pretty cool. I used to have a Aprilia RS125 so I wouldn't consider one to be honest because I'd find it too slow in comparison. Top speed on the CBR isn't much different from my 50cc RS2 but as said before sure the engine is more reliable because it isn't being so strained
