Just fitted new aftermarket lens kit and felt the little 10watt bulbs were a little dim, so I fitted the "normal sized" 21watt bulbs. All seems to be fine, but I was wondering if anyone has done this and encountered any problems after a while? The scoot is a 1999 fxr.
chances are they'll get hot and melt the plastic surround if there left on for a long time, they use 10w bulbs as it saves money, makes things like indicator bulb holders cheaper.
The new lenses stick out more (have more space inside as well) so would hope the plastic will be far enough away from the bulb. I was more wondering if it could damage the relay, though I wouldn't have thought an extra 44watts would overload it.
relays use heavy duty contacts, bulbs wont damage them. as for the heat issue the indicators will only be on for 20 seconds at a time? should be fine
