Am I the only one around here that hates the sound of 2 strokes. I fucking hate listening to a horde of teenagers revving those stupid weak 50cc engines at traffic lights as if its a super bike and sounds powerful and meaty it sounds like a wasp in a coke can.

    NO.

I love the sound of a 2 stroke.

Teenagers with 2 strokes who are clearly as they say "badmans" just push them off.

He upgraded... I did most of the work on the thing lol

Rear wheel nuts - if you have the type where the rim dismounts from the hub (see project thread) Put some locking washers behind the nuts and make sure you loosen + retighten the nuts regularly. they like to work themselves loose, they came loose on three occasions, two of which I ended up riding the scoot back for him with a loose back wheel for 5+ miles.

Coil - deffinately makes a difference, Naraku one costs something like £20.

Air box - there should be a plastic piece inside the airbox where the inlet to the carb goes, remove it. Also get some Naraku air filter element.

Carb - if its standard - bin it. Utter crap.

Plug - They run better on the NGK iridiums for some reason. No idea why, they just do.

Gaskets - Some don't have a base gasket, big improvement with one in - gasket set is like £4 off ebay.

The sidestand - they tend to get floppy with standard spring, whip it off and go to local motorfactors/halfrauds and get anther.

Wiring - wrap it! seriously, the loom on these are exposed at so many points its unreal, get yourself some electrical tape and wrap what you can.

If it has the rear spoiler/mudguard thing, put a little foam under the screws holding it on, theyre prone to cracking.

Forks - Gaitors - forks on these are SHITE. first thing we did was a fork rebuild pretty much and put some gators on to stop shit getting in.

Theres no restrictions in the variator. next size up on carb and coil saw a speed of 40mph.

We also found it was happier with a multivar variator from mallossi (hard to get for the sym jet) on 5.5g rollers with a Kevlar belt.

That's all I can think of though.

upgrades wise unless you wanna spend some serious cash theres not much you can do, 70 kits are hard to find and when you do theyre not good quality. Although the 100cc engine from the jet100 goes straight in and its pretty much just a case of swapping some of the electrics over.

He got rid of it before we could do any major work though.
