Hi, my name is Alex and I own a jog rr. And so it begins. I've watching the forum for a while and wanted to say hello. Right now I have a jog RR that I'm trying for the past couple of weeks to sort it out. After picking it up from an old man that kept it in a shed for 8 months , i brought it home and worked on it. The following have been sorted but still its not running how I would like to : - electrical look, rotten and shredded : all repaired and redone. - Leaking water pump: repaired. - Endy exhaust, i guess it was restricted as it had somehow of a smaller tube of metal inside the main tube. Put a polini team scooter exhasut instead with rectified flange ( as the old one was bent). - Replaced variator, with another stock one that i had around, 4.5g rollers. - some minor cosmetic damage that has been sorted out for the moment. Cleaned the carb and discoverd a 95 main jet in it , with a 38 pilot jet , needle up at 2n notch. It was not running. Stock 12mm phbn dellorto comes with #65 so I figured to go for 72 main jet. Now there is this problem that I can't figure out. From stand still, the scooter accelerates and bogs a bit, not going to full revs, even with throtle all the way open, then it picks up in rev ( not at full capacity by the sound, but higher than nomal start) and starts to move, but kind of slow.... At some moment around 10-15 it accelerates steady and slow with the same rpm "tonality" untill 30-32 and thats it.. If anyone has any idea that would be useful. Another thing, the air screw on the carb is quite closed... around 3/4 out from closed, if i try to open more, it dies... if i close it more, it dies... it seems quite sensible to even 1/8 turns. Another thing is the float i think. When I open the bowl, and turn the carb upside down, the float is not parallel with the body of the carb ( where the gasket goes) its dropped almost all the way down. Would this cause running problems ? And also the vacuum hose seems to be a bit wet when i take it of from that thingy from the carb , does this mean anything ? Sory for the long post, but hopefully I can get some good ideas from you guys.
Welcome. I just joined too! I thought my ped was a project but yours sounds like a proper challenge. Best of luck.
Nice to see some responses. Just took the trannie apart today and variator backplate seems to have some grooves about 1mm in the backplate and 0.5mm on the outerplate at the most outside position. Changed all the back half assembly w8th a restored one and put everything toghether... when I tried to start it battery di3d and I dont have a kickstart (looking to buy a pinion k8ck start spring and pedal and the inner buhs8ng for the pinion but cant find them anywhere) and now batt is charging up hopefully will post bavk tomorrow. Sorted the carb out. Moved the clip from the needle to thw 4th position and rejetted woth a #74. Before I did all the this the ped pulled like crazy the first 20-30m ... almost wheelie it if I wasnt xareful. Hope to start it tomorow and maintain this crazy pull all the way to 45-50mph. That will be fun. I also saw it has a parmakit barrel bur not sure if its a 70 or 50 cause it dont say nothing on it... cant tell, any suggestions are appreciated. Cheers. So the jog is moving now, and it's a beast. I mean, its really fast off the line, but not consistent. From a stand still, I open full throttle, and it starts moving slow ( and revs medium low) then after 2-3m, it picks up instantly in revs and pulls like a train up to 20-25 then comes down in revs to a medium high intensity and keeps constant and accelerates really slow. I cannot figure out anymore what can be the problem... I have a dellorto 12mm carb, with a #74 main and #38 pilot jet. I tried to adjust the airscrew and seems fine at around 1 turn out ... the manual says 1 and 3/4 so I guess it should be fine. Rollers are 4.5 and team polini exhaust. Any ideas about the sudden power increase then loss when accelerating is really appreciated.
Sounds like you've got some form of 'lag', One bits working o.k.at a certain level but another bits having issues at a certain point an keeping pace. Loving the post!. .
Jetter to #77 and moved the clip to 2nd notch. Now it revs only medium high and it seems like too rich.. also does onky 30-32 mph. Im starting to loose it over here. Im think8nk maybe belt is worn or running to rich. Ill get back home and jet to #72 and see what happens. Also put 3 rollers of 3.5 with 3 4.5. Will inspect the clutch aswel... other thoughts ?
