hi guys, i bought a gilera stalker yesterday, starts first kick and runs.. but just seems really slow... it has a stage 6 pipe, variator washer has been removed and been upjetted to a 62 main jet.. (dunno what weight rollers) it is nippy off the line but wont seem to get past 30/35mph? any ideas? cheers in advance kieran
no it dont seem to rev out, thats whats confusing me:/ it kinda seems as if the rollers are too heavy but too light at the same time
The rollers could be heavy but very worn, that could cause it to accelerate quickly but have no top end
Dude- your clutch is at one with the bell at 5mph on a stock machine. It's got nothing to do with speeds over 5-10 mph. with a second hand machine I'd start by doing a complete strip of the cylinder to see what is going on in there, followed by a complete strip of the carb & a clean with compressed air. Then the transmission gets the works- rear spring corrector fully apart, cleaned & regreased. Then the variator gets cleaned & inspected. Then you set it up. Complete carb/transmission set up. But if you don't / can't - start with the colour of the spark plug. If it's white, get a bigger main jet. Then the tranny. Motor doesn't get going? Reduce the roller weight. If nothing works and the plug is white whatever jet you put in it, then the idiot you bought it off did not use gaskets & sealant when he put his admission pipe on there - and you have a leak which only manifests itself when the motor is really pumping. Do not dispair. This can be fixed for less than a few pints of beer. Unless you meant stage :6 exhaust - in which case it's carb/ transmission. Probably carb....... good luck
new spark plug and a softer clutch spring still a bag of crap, when thers no weight on the bike (on centre stand) it is instant power and as soon as i sit on it theres no power and before anyone asks no im not fat hahahh
