My chineese 49cc moped drive belt shredded. I put a brand new one on and it lasted 1 and an half-ish journeys. What could be causing this?

    Thanks in advance.

abrasion, excessive heat from something or incorrect length.

Check the rear clutch, if it's worn it will take out drive belt, cheap enough to replace the whole transmission.

Belts shredded is caused by variator / variator ventilar or the torque pulley no other thing as clutch can cause that.

Yes what Damjam said, it's the torque pulley not twisting as it should but just fit a new clutch unit complete !

It can be the variator as well everything needs to be disassembled and checked.

Normally the small needle bearing in the clutch pulley fails causing the entire clutch unit to run out of line. I've never managed to change one.
As stated above, just replace the entire clutch pulley unit, dead cheap.
Also check the input shaft bearing in the gearbox for sideways movement (3 o'clock/9 o'clock) as this can cause the same problem.
