Was riding along yesterday on my aprilia sr 50 ditech and a noise come from the kickstart cover I took it off and the fan?? Was shredded and loose and tightened it back up then the bike was fine until 5 mins of riding a noise come from the Same area again plzz help any ideas?
is the kick start returning to its rest position easily..they tend to seize up on the through shaft of the casing...this makes the bendiz throw not retun correctly and that engages with the variator making a grinding noise
gunna have to take off the variator case and strip out the kick start shaft, clean it up and re-assemble...or try flooding the shaft with WD40 whilst rotating it until it moves freely (but this will only be a short term temp fix) If its similar design to the Piaggio Zips.... The hardest part is getting the kick spring back on its gear...you'll need a piece of tube to hook over the end of the spring whilst you rotate the gear to tension it. Once its passed the raised section in the casting you can then push the gear downwards and release the spring end like this
