Hi all! My aerox has had a handlebar conversion. I have a bycycle speedometer fitted, will it fail an MOT on that? One of my brakes don't have a brake light switch, will it fail on that? Am I correct in believing that if you have indicators, you have to have an indicator warning light or be able to see them from seated? Thanks for any answers in advance! Cory.
or simpler would be to have a ride to the test station and talk to the tester (most of them ARE human)...and its free
LOL I am currently choking after spitting half my drink into the screen That is MY sick sense of humour
As long as your speedometer works showing correct speed and mileage you should be alright there, you need brake switches on both brakes so it would fail on that i believe. As long as your indicators work then that's all good. im not a hundred percent certain but i had to have a brake switch replaced as it didnt work and i would of failed on that.
Thank you for a straight answer ! They don't come often on these sights. My speedo displays correct speed and mileage so that's good. My indicators also work fine. The thing with my brake switch, there isn't one there at all. It's not broke, it's not there haha
Well the speedo on the last 2 mopeds i took for a mot were knackard and although they failed the mot it was nothing to do with the speedo...
they take the odometer reading but dont check the speed calibation...how would they without actually taking it for a ride??????...which they dont. Most speedos run off the front wheel so you cant check them on a dyno either
I have a bycycle speedometer fitted, will it fail an MOT on that? NO, it will pass One of my brakes don't have a brake light switch, will it fail on that? YES. Am I correct in believing that if you have indicators, you have to have an indicator warning light or be able to see them from seated? YES you must also have an low and high bean warning light. orange light for indicators, green for low bean, blue for high bean.
if you read the fail slip it also say they can recharge you if you remove the bike from the test station.
That has never happened to me, ever, if the scooter or motorbike is in such a bad way as to endanger yourself or other road users, then yeah, I agree, it must get fixed before it leaves, but then that is the owners fault for riding around a piece of shit. Mot tester regardless of what others think, must be independent from the garage that most are based in. Other wise we'd get turned over left right and centre.my mate failed his mot on the tyres he had, one was crossply, the other was radial, they ordered the tyres and around 7 days later his bike was retested with new boots on, no charge for retest.
Scooter u dont need a warning light for low beam on a moped, my zip doesnt have one for low, just high
