The last couple of days i have noticed my front brake catching gently as my wheel went round...But as i rode the bike it was un-noticeable.... However today i got the bike out of the garage and it seemed abit stiff and with a turn of the wheel while pushing it would result in a weird noise (Like a scratching noise), and the disk would catch/stick on abit. Anyway, I needed to go to the gym. The bike rode ok, but the brake made the awful scrathcing noise It was only about 5 minutes in to the journey when all of a sudden sparks started flying out of my front wheel, i could not immediately pull over as there was a car up my arse. I pulled over around 400 meters up the road and after around 5 minutes the sparks had stopped, I examined the wheel but it was dark and i could not see anything that stood out. I carried on to the gym with full loss of my front brake. When i got home i looked closely and what seems to be brake fluid is leaking, the disk is soaked with it and from riding all of the wheel is covered in this lubricant. It was dripping from the caliper thingy, sorry for not knowing alot on bike mechanics What has happened? I initially thought it was just abit of rust on my disk but i think i can discount this theory now. So maybe a stone or foreign body trapped in my caliper? Or a component has come loose or something? I am really stuck as what to do next, I have to get to college in the morning and have some really important work to hand in. Will it be ok to ride? If anyone has any ideas as to what the cause or result of this problem is please reply A.S.A.P Sorry for such a long and boring essay but i thaught it would be better to give all facts as to reduce the enigma slightly as to what has happened. wo wo wo !! before you do anyfin wipe all that brake fluid off it will strip the paint off anything then you gotta obviously check piston seals and your lines
this appened to a mate of mine his pads where so knackered he went through the pads and the piston was grinding on the disc tell eventually he wore through the piston same thing appened sparks and then loads of brake fluid
iff you seriously need it i would go with removing your front brake as this would meen theres no brake fluid to spill therefore non to ruin paintwork ect and most of all brake fluid on your tyres very very dangerous
