Before you say read up about jetting. I have a thousand times but i need help with my bike. So, i have a tnt 19mm carb. Yes i have been told they are ****. Has a malossi air filter. Got it jetted by mechanic he said its best with 88 jet. It bogs when you open throttle fast. So i dropped the needle and it almost fixed the problem. The bike isnt that fast and doesnt lift (despite the good spec which i will mention later). I put a 92 jet in and literally no bog. Runs nice. But still only hitting 55ish. Put a 95 jet in and it runs nice but hesitates after a while when the engine is hot. Im thinking of putting my old 17.5 carb on with airbox. Would this be better? Rough spec of bike Typhoon engine. Malossi sport 70. Pm360. Tnt19mm carb with malossi air filter(as mentioned). Full malossi transmission with white spring and 6g rollers (seems to rev too much with 5.5). Also would a worn belt and/or soft clutch springs have a big affect on speed. Why the f is my bike so slow. Standard de restricted 50s can go this fast ffs! Also someone is telling me to try 100 jet ? even though 92 runs nicer than 95. Help help
The TNT carbs are like lottery tickets - if you win, Congratulations, it runs well. If not, well... Better luck next time! Use the 17.5 carb and the airbox, but drill the airbox to make it less restrictive. Worn belts really take your top speed down, my aerox(normally tops around 74mph) only did 62 with a ready-to-blow belt. Worn clutch springs dont let the engine rev to the powerband, before engaging - thus no power at start. White contra spring and white clutch springs seem a little soft for a Malossi sport.
Im not good with clutchs and all that. My malossi belt u can only see half of one of the three malossi logos. So i think it might be worn not sure. And if i put holes in the air box il need a bigger jet. Thanks for the help though mate really appreciate it. Also how do u take off the belt cus when i take the variator off the belt is still impossible to take off as it is inbetween the clutch and engine case. How do u take off clutch and change springs and that. 6g rollers let my bike rev kinda nicely. Will i still need to get rid of that white spring
On most scooters you need to remove the whole clutch assembly in order to remove the drive belt. If you change the belt, i would suggest stock/stage 6/top performances belts. Malossi belts give best power, but as soon as something goes wrong in the variator(rear pulleys bent, worn variator and so on), the belt gets worn quickly or even shredded. If you drill the airbox, then yes you will need to up-jet the carb. To change the clutch or contra spring, you will first need to remove the clutch bell, then slide off the whole clutch assembly. After that you will see a huge nut on the clutch. When taking the nut off, remember that the contra spring will be under pressure, and if you are not careful, the clutch could pop off and fly a few feet in the air. After thats done, you will have easy access to the clutch springs and contra spring.
