hi guys right iv just fully rebuild me mbk booster with a full mass race crank it runs fine on top end the problem is when i wack full rev's on it splutter's and acceleration is slow im running a 86 main jet and 6gram rollers thanks
rollerd wouldent make it sputter , i full rebuilt my engine with new crank ect just need to jet it proppl it is NOT ure rollers mybee if its just slugish then yee rollers but if its sputtering then no its not rollers .
Too heavy rollers will cause a rich condition, throwing off your jetting. It's akin to trying to pull off in top gear.
Hi when you say it splutters can you be a little more specific does it hesitate does it over run does it sound like it wants to die until the revs pick up.... When you say a bigger crank.. Have you upgraded anything else to match it??
clutch is too soft and heavy rollers all day long...will splutter like mad as ishigham said above, the clutch is engaging too low in the rpm, way below your powerband. this means your engine is drawing its close to idle mix through a fully open carb, this would be fine if it was a stock engine as they can make power at full throttle at any rpm pritymuch. they lean out at top but the rev's wont ever build that high with the low revving pipe. the transmission is putting itself into too high a gear, this creates too much load on the crank and drops off rpm. 99% of amature tunners swear its jetting, ive had a couple pro motocross/kart tunners argue till there blue in the face, only to try my "worst advice ive ever heard" then come back and humbelly apologise. a perfectly setup transmission and a huge jet will run fine, it will just stink of fuel and kill plugs, rarely will rich condition make a bike splutter... christ most of the bikes i se running about with filters and 100+ jets dont splutter, there WAY wrong but they dont splutter. spluttering is usually a result of idle mix setting (if momentairly~) if its constant then its rollers all day long so ignore the above advice when we finally build terro's bike ill be seting it up on the fly so i can show what too lean is, too heavy is, too light is and so on with some vids. as for spluttering, it could also be a sighn of rich condition, but leave it rich, once your rollers are set correctly you can trim the main jet setting. if anyone has a perfectly setup bike and a few spare parts they could throw a stock clutch and some heavy rollers in and demonstrate this. workshop isnt for guessing. keep to what you know (or more to the point are willing to prove) as i can demostrate anything i say on the board to anyone who ask's.
