Hi people, I am new on this forum and i hope this is the correct thread, and I really need to ask if anyone could help? I am really struggling to find a part for my derbi atlantis 100cc, it's the number plate light, I have trawled the Internet and really haven't been able to find one anywhere, I know I can get a universal light from eBay or amazon, but really trying to find a genuine one, can someone please help me locate one?
Hey there, thanks for the reply, I am looking for the whole unit, I have just recently purchased this bike, and I think it got smacked into a wall before I purchased and its now a mot failure, so the bulb has broken with the connectors still in there, and the lense is broken to, here is a pic
wow thats nasty, is a number plate light mandatory for the mot? maybe whip it off to get it through the mot? id say best bet would be to find one being broken for spares. but that could be just as much fun
As far as I know they are mandatory if the vehicle was fitted with one when it was manufactured, the only problem is is finding one at all. I mean I have found universal number plate lights, but been unable to source anything at all related to this particular model. Part from engine parts and body panels are the easiest bits to source. Really running outta patience and wondered if anyone might have any other ideas?
spoke to my boss for you, says theres no reason he wouldn't pass it for not having a number plate light but other garages might be funny about it but if your rear light is directly above the number plate then you could (only if your brave enough) cut a small slot in the bottom of the lense so that when your lights are on the number plate would get lit although if you crack the lense its a fail. if you cut it put some clear plastic over where you have cut to make it look standard. just thought id pass on the message and hopefully help you bit of a ghetto way of doing it but it could get it through mot and your plate would be lit, I think the rule is if its fitted it has to work ?
Hi there. Thing is is the brake lights don't really come anywhere near the number plate, and I don't want to mod anything either, all I wanted was to see if anyone knew of anywhere I could get an original licence plate light with reflector as its known in the manual. I have put up another photo as another example as the back of my bike
ahh understand abit b etter, yeah not sure youd get away with removing it. and it is a strange shape so can see why youd want a oe one. there must be some dealers around ill do a quick search see if i can find anything for ya
no worries matey. ive been searching for parts recently and not really getting anywhere so know how frustrating it can be
This is what to expect when you buy a bike that wasn't officially imported or doesn't have a good parts base! If you can;t find a replacement light, there wouldn't really be anywhere to put a different plate light without it looking goofy. Only way round that would be to remove all that unneeded plastic that the plate is on and bolt the plate on a bracket under the lights.
Mmm, excuse me bt I don't care that it wasn't officially imported or wat not, the fact that this bike had a full service history and low miles was the reason I got it.
Hope it's of any help, but heres a list of bikes that use the same number light.
