Hi I have a speedfight2 silver sport ac with a Leo Vince TT sports exhaust with stage 6 foam airfilter running a 100 main jet, I have recently been having problems trying to start the bike as it just clicks on electric start and the motor does not start it will only start after trying lots of time then when the motor finally starts I have to keep revving the bike really fast like (I am tossing bike off or sommet) till it finally builds up enough revs to keep the motor running I have a pic of my spark plug below and all this oil what I have no idea is coming from below Please help thanks!
Well, that plugs seen better days, hasn't it. Change it. If its a 50cc then a 100 main jet is WAAAAY too bigand its bogging, getting too much fuel until the air can catch up with it. And as for that filter, get rid and put the standard box back on. The oil is coming from the blowback out the back of the carb, soaking through the filter and dripping onto the case. It needs setting up properly.
That filter is properly filthy with oil and petrol now, so best chuck it and replace. The problem with those types of filters is the rain gets sucked in too easy. You may not realise it, or think that it does, but a drop of rain can sit in the connecting rubber and then when you give it the beans, it gets sucked in straight through the carb and onto the piston, then kiss goodbye to the rings and barrel. Thats why we say stick with the standard airbox as much as possible. As for jetting, its a time consuming job, and trial and error. Firstly you need to know the standard main jet size for the standard set-up. You got a leo pipe on so you'd go up maybe 5 points to accommodate the speedier flow of gases out the exhaust, thats with the standard airbox on; if you put the open filter on, then you'd probably jump another 10 - 12 points to accommodate the increased air flow. Buy yourself a couple of jet packs, 50-72 and 75-100, start at the top and work your way down until its nice and crisp acceleration, check the plug colour regularly to give yourself an idea of how rich or weak its running.
Ok so you would recommend chucking the foam filter all together? Is there any other no stock filters that are anygood?
Hundreds of filters available, finding one that doesn't let the water in is another matter. Any filter that is shielded in some way is better than an open one
Ok mate thank you very much for your help! And sorry to be a pain in the arse but is this.a better filter? http://www.pedparts.co.uk/product/94/polini-air-filter-37mm-covered
just put the stock airbox on, these stupid filters do nothing performance wise, best to use stock airbox with a new filter.
