Hi mate, you need L plates by law if you have a cbt and a provisional license. And they are required on the front and rear of the scooter. A 50cc scooter depending on what mods are done can do 40+ mph. It is ok to use other bars alot of people do.

At 16 you can ride a moped.
A scooter can be a moped if it is no more than 50cc and is restricted to 50kmph, anything that falls outside of that definition is a motorcycle and you have to be 17 to ride it. (Of course every scooter on the road complies, Honestly!) to ride a moped you need to take a CBT and hold a provisional licence.

L plates of the prescribed size must be displayed to the front and the rear (a right sod on some bikes)'

My front L plate kept coming off my Aerox so the old man airbrushed and laquererd one on instead, it looks kinda cool and it can't fall off.
