hi i have been practicing faffing around with a dremel for about 4/5 months now, i got a few old 50cc cylinders off friends ect and i have been playing about with them and i would say i have got pretty good and now have a nice sturdy hand ! well im getting a new crank soon and it seems a real waste to not do abit of "flowing" while its all apart i have 2 sets of spare engine cases incase i made a complete cock up could you put some example pictures up please and tell me abit more about it because i know there is more to it than i have read Tools 15000rpm dremel 6/8 grinding stones 2 carbide cutters a few cutting disks them drum sandpaper ones and lots of sandpaper at hand epoxy chemical metal also would i need anything else? thanks matthew
hey man Just looking at a couple of your other posts, and im wondering if your up to doing this.... Anyway... if you have some spares, theres no harm in trying. I reckon leave the cylinder alone for now, and give the cases a tickle... Thats what i did... Heres my project http://scootershack.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=335&sid=34f03c5eaeb3bf704b74ae056b7955a2
thought id let people jump in here first... but nobody has.. ditch the stones.. there for grinding glass ONLY. fuck all use on any kind of metal. need sanding drum's carbide cutters and emery paper (i use somthing else, but like fuck am i giving all my secrets away) its basicly a case of removing as little material while giving maximum improvment in flow between the TIP of the open reed and the transfer feed of the barrel. thats it. once your happy with one side you need to copy this onto the other side in a PERFECT mirror image, you should volume check both sides (fill with water and record the ammount in each side) as unequal cases wont flow atal well, you wil just get mroe mix on one side of the cylinder and blow the small end bearing from the side load applied to the piston at half port exposure.. maybe even twist the conrod.. but ye, plenty pics on here/on my facebook of work ive done the last few years so you can see what your aiming for. i spent a few years doing it allsorts of different way's altho ive setteld on a happy shape now. i cant explain how much easier it is learning when you know what your aiming for, as in, be glad you have pics to copy as when i started on scoots nobody was doing them/wouldent share pics ATALL (probably fear more than anything)
