I've recently bought an engine and trying to split the 2 crank casins apart to remove the crankshaft, I've got all bolts off and can't split them apart? Also Any ideas on how to get the long engine mount off ? Thanks
take it to a shop and get them pressed apart mate, and the engine mount should come apart once all of the bolts have been removed
Oh right okay mate, Hmmm there's like a couple of circlips and theres ball bearings in there to hold them in but there secure? Do you reckon somehow I could get them out?
you mean the bush mount on the top of the engine? im not too good with minarelli but someone should be able to tell you for definite
The circlips are on the inside of the bearings (i.e. facing inwards towards the reedblock) and are just to centre the the mount between the 2 cases/bearings. You can remove the circlips using circlip pliers and the mount will slide out...maybe! The thing is the bar usually corrodes which means you'll need to hammer the it out of the bearings which could damage them. To give you an idea the last one i did (Aerox) required a sledgehammer to shift it...! Personally speaking i wouldn't bother...when you split the case the bar will be released anyway like he said (^^)without messing with the circlips.
