    Hello to everybody.

I have purchased for my wife a lovely 2 tone blue Vespa ET4 limited edition, M192M engine, runs lovely and she LOVES it.

I am puzzled though, as far as I can tell, it's only supposed to go up to about 55 - 60 mph, and do about 40 to 45 to a gallon, but she has had 70 mph out of it easily, although she said it was pretty much at the end of what it had to give, and she is getting 65 to 75 mpg out of it, around town and country running. Not that I am complaining, nor is she, but can anyone explain why we seem to be out performing the expected figures? There are no obvious mods, asides a ton of chrome fitted by the previous owner.

Many thanks for any help or suggestions, it would be helpful to know for when we need to service it / repairs if there is anything we need to know.

looking forward to an enjoyable membership with you all.

70 mph seems about right for a 125, does it have the stock exhaust?

O.K., thanks for that, it seems that other forums and semi official figures are completely wrong then. One really great thing, my 18yo son laughed 'coz we got my wife a moped and it is a lot faster than his c*** SYM from china, and hasn't gone wrong once yet, unlike his.....

Thanks Benx8 for the link, that was the kind of thing I was looking for all along!

    No worries mate.

Sign up to it. When your other half fills up take a note of odometer and the liters you put into the tank and put it all on there it helps you work out you MPG.

What scoot has ya son got?

He's got a Chinese Sym, I think he said XS125, it's only 3 years old but I have been looking at 10 year old bikes for myself and they are in better age condition than his, his chrome is peeling, rust showing through all over the place, plastics fading, etc, etc.

I use MPG calculator, it's free and easy, we had to change the battery a few weeks ago and that has made the world of difference! I couldn't believe how much more power, better starting, smoother running came from a slightly dodgy battery. If it goes again I will replace the regulator at the same time.

By the way, the extra lights are gone from the bike now, I will update the picture when I get around to it!

I'm looking at customs, Dragstar, eliminator, marauder, intruder, shadow, virago, not rebel! Gotta be a 125 to start out obviously, but at 40 i'm finally allowed a bike! Partly 'coz now she has one she can't say no! ;) If anyone knows anything about these bikes please chip in, I'm new to this so I am learning fast.

So cruiser guy. I find the cruisers 125 are quite slow but they do look good

Yeah, agreed, they are slower, 60mph tops for the most part, but I am aiming for bigger things in the future, and we will be covering some distance on it so top end isn't the most important thing to me.

Love the look though. I look a bit daft on some of the racing bikes, I'm 6'2, they look a bit mini-moto when I sit on them, and so-o-o-o uncomfortable!

If Carlsberg made anything with an engine there would be a far higher ratio of women to men out there........
