Hello Keenen and welcome to the Shack.

what would you like to know about your scooter , ie general upkeep - derestriction - tuning - high end tuning- repairs and fitting.

i will start with the very basic : GEAR

we at scootershack always like our members to be safe on the roads, so we always hint to new riders wearing your gear all the time is a lifesaver in its own right. even in the baking hot summer days having your jacket - gloves - boots and good rugged jeans are a must. many a time we see folks riding around without their gear and we see a lot of accidents where people either loose their life or have life changing injurys down to riding without the correct gear.

    Scooter checks :

every young rider is eager to get on the road right away but with this comes the forgetfulness to make the very basic checks, Lights - indicators - brake light , knowing these work will save you a lotta heartache and a possible blue lights in your mirror. its always good to give them a wipe over now and again to keep them clean same goes with numberplate. if you have a twostroke scooter you will need to keep an eye on mixing oil levels running out of this can cause damage that runs into the hundreds of pounds to the engine ...... if your scoot is a fourstoke you will want to check engine oil now and again and even do an oil change every so often, clean engine oil is good engine oil and very good for your scooter, old engine oil is full of rubbish and gunk and does not lubricate as well.

    Hooning :

your mates will at one time egg you on to do silly things, try to do a wheelie or pull a stoppie, problem here is if your crash you have to repair the damage and some cases its very expensive, they may even egg you on to race them.... again a bad mistake , Never be forced to do something you do not wish to, think about your scoot first , if you have no scoot you have no transport this means the loss of freedom to go where you please when you please.

carry a mobile phone with you at all times, have a look online or find a friend with a van and add them to your contacts, if you break down throw them £5 -£10 to come and recover you and your bike , a spare spark plug , front headlamp bulb , indicator bulb and a tail light bulb with a small tool kit roll in your seats storage space will be a godsend , also throw in some cheap waterproof trousers trust me wet crotch is not nice, but waterproof trousers will be a welcome bonus in a freak downpour.

ABOVE ALL RIDE SAFE and enjoy the freedom two wheels brings
