    Im new here from Bristol Uk! gotta sr 172 just baught it! really anoying broke down a few times, so looks like i gotta start a new project so ill upload some pics and more info soon! so feel free to give advice as i dont really have a clue !

    Guy SAID he done this ___

    Brand new 172 malossi racing head and piston cost £280
    kundo rapid exhausts
    brand new malossi rolls
    brand new polini air filter
    brand new p.m tuning air filter
    brand new malossi transmission
    brand new reeds
    brand new back tire

    To be honest not sure if all of this was actually done i know for a fact the 172 kit is on there as i have the old standard 1 in a box,

    Other day i was going along say about 60 then bike cut out when i collected the bike the guy said i had to pre mix it but i forgot the amount i was supose to use and i filled the OIL tank up aswell cause i thought he was just chattin shit so to be safe i added a few caps full straight into the tank ( proberly stupid ) later to blow a spark plug and be stuck 15 miles away from home lol anyway took it back filled it back up with petrol gave it a shake changed spark plug worked fine so i am guessing i do need to pre mix or summut ? Any1 Shine a light on this ?

    When the bike starts makes a wierd squeeking noise whilst idle and moving ?
    Also can any help me with engine mount/bushes ? rattle like a bi*ch defintly need some new ones!! I will uploads

    Welcome bud, almost picked an sr up yesterday but decided id stick it out and save for a runner

    to answer the pre mix, you may have caused a light heat seize.

    If he said pre mix its likely because the oil pump failed so he decided to do it the cheap way and mix fuel. Id imagine around 25:1 or 33:1 would be a good mix. Without the 2 stroke the engine will run hot and lack any lubrication. on a 2 stroke no oil = dead engine

    not sure on the squaek depends whare it comes from and rattling could be the center stand, it could be somthing loose, it could be piston slap from the engine if somethings gone wrong.

    to test the bushs are ok, put the bike on the centre stand so that the rear wheel is in the air. have someone hold the bike at the front still or where the seat is, and wiggle the rar wheel. it shouldnt move side to side, if it does their worn

    Would it of done it because of to much 2 stroke ? cause i filled the side bottle up and added some into the petrol rode around for a bit then it broke down when i was nearly on empty so perhaps there was just 2 stroke in my tank ? is there anychance that could of caused it cause i think there was more then enough oil in both parts so a pain in the ass ! wish i baught the bike and started the project myself its picking up from some1 else bogde lol


    just went out to have a look someone held the bike from the front wobbled the back and was ALOT of movemont! defintly need to replace them then, are they possible to change at home?
    ( i have loads of tools but no air gun?)
    and were could i purchase them from ?

    The squeek defintly comes from the engine casing tryed started off and on stand to see if theres any difference but still does it but wen i rebuild engine that should go away hopefully

    Is This Carb ok for the 172 kit aswell? i duno if i can replace everything all at once cause of money but i will eventualy change it but i need the bike for everyday use so can never leave it half done lol

    not sure what size the carb is, but its a good make.

    it really depends when it comes too the 2 stroke. putting it in the 2 stroke tank would make no odds if the pumps dead. As for the amount you put in the tank vit should be measured, running out of fuel will cause the bike to stop for sure hehe, as for whether it seized for a second or simply ran out of fuel i couldnt say.

    i dont know where or how to change the bushings, i havent researched this yet. try youtube for a general idea of how its done.

    Yeh ina way i would say it siezed for a bit cause it stopped so i tryed starting nothing tryed kickin and kicker was locked but gave it ten mins and it went back to normal, so should i scrap the oil tank and just premix? the guy said he only started pre mix cause he got told he had to, its not that the oil pump broke or anything

    HAHA! na i def must of had a quarter or just under should of def had enough !:)


    Yeh i will def need to find summut out about them Cheers

    Also, If it's premix the pump wont be attached to the engine so putting it in the two stroke bottle will do sweet f all, Also run 33:1. I'd pull your cylinder off and check you've not fucked the rings/bore/piston.

    im from St george?
    and welll the oil still connects to the carb and slowly goes down, so surely its still connected? and well the bike runs again now like nothings happened so could the rings and the still be screwed?

    Can any1 tell me if i can change rear brake pads and engine silent block/ bushes at home ? do u need a air gun ?

    I'm from Brislington lol. and nah you can get the engine out just with spanners/rachets.

    On the engine casing do i have to remove the nut on the side connected to the wheel to get the caseing off ?
    and any1 know where i can buy the silent block/ washer from ?

    yehhh trying to find as much info as possible but im not really to good for this stuff and my local bike shops just pass it off as a toy lol so F them ill do it myself well as much as i can

    yeah mechanics are the worst motherfuckers! they never take care of customers scoots/cars... the best way to do it is DIY! if you know of course :p i dont know much either myself... just some basics ;)

    yeh well 1st of all i know i need to replace rear silentblocks, front tyre, rear drum brakes, then i need to figure out about the pre mix situation! jesus this list is gettin longer! clutch, variator, gear up, new belt,

    Plus i need to find out if i can remove engine change silent block and replace most interior in engine WITHOUT air gun ?

    After that then ill go into styling but got a long way there!

    why dont you just strip the whole scooter down and start from scratch??? also you dont have to have an air gun to unloose things ;)

    cause i use the bike mon - friday so i got 48 hours to do what ever i need then gotta be back runnin ( if possible) so i gotta be sure what i buy will fit

    yeh reallly i should but would rather try buy everything i should hopefully need all at once and just take a day or 2 of work and go all at it for a few days if i strip it down now i have nowhere to keep a half built bike and i would probs start and never finish it lol

    I can always come help a fellow scooterist if you want. Never changed silent blocks, but i've done everything else on your list lol. You tried pedparts ? They do all my work (well use to when i knew fuck all)
