Heat gun question's.

Would a 2000W heat gun be good enough for use on a scooter. Need one to repair my transmission case threads as the need filling re drilling with a compound i bought off eBay.

Also would one be good enough for crank changes and other assorted tasks ?

it'll be good enough for the crank chages but a waste of time for the case repair IMHO

 

What would you recommend. ?

 

for melting ali bar fillers best bet if theres no oxy gear would be a plumbers blowlamp with replaceable gas cartridge...Very cheap from Wilkinsons and similar places



or one of these from ebay....refilled by lighter flighter gas

That's a very hard epoxy filler, you apply it cold (just like bodyfiller) but it sets very hard and is apparently able to be drilled and threaded. Just make sure the area to be repaired is spotlessly clean to aid adhesion.

 

Ok dokie. It says in the instructions that it needs to be heat cured.

 

That's new to me.
