i know a fair amount about engines as i have been riding them almost all my life, but im still fairly new to scooters and how they work.

basically its hot in taiwan so my bike gets really hot, now i have been told that heat effects the power my bike puts out and also how effective my clutch is at biting, is this true and if so why and how can i fight it?.

also alot of you buys go from a 125 to a 172, do you use the original oil injection system or simply add more oil to the fuel everytime you fill up?.
My bike was ported and went up from 106cc to 112cc and i had an issue with power when i didnt add oil into the fuel, i now have to add some oil at fill up and still use the pre-mix system, is there anyway i can mod the injector to add more oil instead of doing this every 60 miles!.

    cheers

Are you on premix or auto lube?
If autolube it is fairly easy to adjust how much oil is going through.
If premix I would just add more oil to be on the safe side ;)

he's using autolube and adding some premix.

the answer to the question depends on what scooter you have, some have fixed rate of oil delivery which varies with the RPM of the engine (minarellis) and some like piaggios are advanced and retarded with the throttle cable as well as the engine RPMs the latter type, with cable can have its delivery increased by adding a bit of tension on the cable, makes the pump advance slightly further throughout the throttle range, i would advise running premix though as then you know how much oil is goin in. i removed the oil pump totally on my evo engine and ran totally premix.

i use a single cable quick action throttle, from what i can decipher from the midget mans broken english he mentioned a cable used to go to the oil pump but has now been removed, he said it still pumped enough oil though?.

i was told if i used a damn good oil in the autolube i wouldnt need to add anymore at fill up, would that be true?.

otherwise im gonna just remove the lot and save some weight :pimp:

if there is supposed to be a cable to your oil pump then you will need it fitted, at tickover it will produce enough oil but when the revs build up the pump will still be producing a small ammount of oil, you need to open the pump advance arm as the revs build up to keepit fef with enough oil. my advice is stick with premix and scrap the pump.

i just isolated my oil pump and mixed the 2T oil into the petrol tank...

100ml of oil to 5 litres of petrol (50:1) ;)
