put a new stage6 70cc kit on my aerox.... half way through running it in, and it cut out... Found out air filter had fell off where i had forgot to put it back on properly. Took it home put new air filter on to find it work again, but doesn't sound as tingy if you know what i mean... lots of thick white smoke and lots of 'oil' coming out the exhaust... when i rev it a lot the back whheel isn't going round very quick either.... is this my top end gasket?
    thanks

running lean without the filter, has probably just cooked the head gasket, if you are lucky. Check your coolant level, that will be the white smoke, most probably, but check. I always check the head with a straight edge, but rarely is the head out of true.

A nip up on running in, is no big deal, most of the time, had it plenty of times, with no piston or bore damage.

first thing is don't try to start the engine, if coolant has got into the engine, and you turn the engine over, because you can't compress water/coolant, it will bend the con-rod.

loosen coolant hose going into lower engine, drain the coolant, take off the head, inspect the gasket looking for a breach, pull the gasket out and put the head face down on a plate of glass, or a window, get a very thin feeler gauge and see if there is a gap anywhere, as in warped. If you can't do that don't worry, as many wouldn't, and as said, it is rare for a head so small to warp.

I personally would have the cylinder off and looking to see how much coolant was in the crank case. If it is flooded, I have used a syringe and tube to pull it out, then a hair dryer. The quicker you dry this out the better, then oil in the bearing channels and big end, turn the oil in by hand, adding a bit more.

Inspect the cylinder/piston for damage, unlikely anything serious, more like light marks ................ new gaskets all round, cylinder re-fit, fill with coolant, bleed coolant circuit of air, get her started and let her warm up on the stand, observe the temp gauge, if she runs hot, turn off, let it cool down, re-bleed the coolant circuit at the head.

take her out, avoid hills and take it easy for a few days.

don't forget torquing the head down in stages, criss cross fashion.

top end and cylinder all in good condition and no coolant in the cases :/..... so why is there lots of white smoke and lots of oil... could that just be due to it running lean as you said before? would that do anything to the power?

white smoke this time of year is common, it is water, an engine makes water as a by-product of combustion, hence why exhausts rust from the inside out, especially on four strokes.

this smoke is more apparent in the cold/winter months, when the engine has had a good run, it will stop........ other than that it is your coolant, entering the combustion chamber, hence why I said check the level.

is the kit the only change, is the filter new, is the carb upjetted to match the filter ??

i have checked the coolant level and thats fine, sorry i forgot to say. and yes i have a 21ml carb all set up to when i had my polini sport70 and air filter. then i just changed to a stage six streetrace and fitted some new reed petals. The air filter and polini kit worked fine and the first 70miles of running my stage6 in the air filter worked fine then aswell... Its just when i was riding and it cut out, i realised the airfilter had fell off.
