Right then as your all probably aware..ive fitted a polini iron kit!!

ive been running it with a ZX pipe with 6G rollers and it went pretty quick!!

The ZX was old and shabby so I ordered An X pro as they are supposed to be so much better than a leo!!

I fitted the x pro and was dissapointed to find that my Runner felt slightly slower and take off was slightly worse....At the moment im running a Weber
12mm carb (standard) The main jet as std is a 68 and ive up-jetted to a 75.
    plug colour is dark brown!!

I tried 5G rollers and the engine revved really high and accelarated slower!!

so I tried a mix of 3x5G and 3x6G to give the equivalent of 5.5G rollers..
and the revs dropped slightly but the acceleration improved so ive kept it at that for now..

But basically I dont think it feels as quick as it was with ZX and 6G rollers..

Anyone got any ideas??? Have i done something wrong??? my next purchase is gonna be a 21mm carb...and im hopeing for big things :hitit:

Ok ive solved the problem....not being one to be defeated after my last
post i went out side and had all the pulleys off and had a mess about!!

    The scoot is now flying!!!!!!!!!!

And maybe I might need my 5G rollers back in now!!!

to cut along one short...ive got a polini variator but ive always used a std
contra spring...because i was told by P.M tuning that the polini was designed
to work with a std contra spring..

Ive got a speedfight engine in bits in the shed, and as an experiment I took
the Malossi white contra spring off the speed fight rear pulley and fitted it to my Runner rear pulley.

The difference it makes is pretty amazing...the speedo needle is now ripping around the dial quick styleee :w00t:

The revs have dropped a bit more as well now so i may need the 5grams back in :D :D :D Happy bunny again!!!!

5g with stiffer springs in the clutch, the belt slip you were having was probably a worn belt/front pulley. both of wich are relativly inexpensive

AAHH so your saying it was belt slip...and fitting a stronger contra spring has stopped it slipping...hence going quicker and revs have dropped a bit too??

come to think of it it may be time for a new belt :w00t:

Minor...should i keep the malossi contra spring in when i change belt for new one???

yep, im guessing the belt is a little thinner than it should be... the contra spring has basicly gripped it better.

install a new belt and take it for a ride, get to a high ish speed then completly off thre throttle (turn the bike off is easier but dangerouse) we will say its switched off as its easier to explain..make note of what speed the bike stops making a running sound and how high the revs are when slowing. if there more than about 1/2-3/4 throttle when accelerating the contra spring is too stiff. also if the clutch is engaged at low speeds when you off the throttle it is incorrect too. the contra spring sets the tention on the belt and the restance against the variators action, this applys when decellerating aswell wich gives the resistance with no throttle (keeps the engine turning)

id be double sure with the jetting and work down from a high starting point.
say 85 ish and work down as you dont know how the pipe is consuming fuel. set the idle mix back to 1 turn out from fully in and wind out 1/4 at a time as usual.

guides in the main page help alot tho and i know i keep saying but try and SEE how the transmission works in your head. imadgen all the parts moving away and the rest should make sence.

all you need do now is set the reed tention and squish settings to really max the power from your setup.

just out of curiosity does the laser have a seperate stub or one peice desighn?

if you wanna rip the bvarrel off, take a tracing of the pipe matting face aswell as the barrel and mark both on each other... chances are the pipe is bigger but it might be bigger in some places and smaller in others, ether way umake a template to use on both sides and grind like mad, the match will be well worth the effort and really give maximum torque/responce throughout the revrange ;)

ye exactly.. match everything you can.. not much at the min but if you make sure every setting is 0.01mm perfect your gonna have the best you can. for a start the base gasgets sold with iron kits are way too thick and can be substituted for a metal item once squish is accertained.

im gonna do a pro build engine guide in the next couple weeks (pics too if terro can come down) as i just wanna show people ALL the steps i take when building as alot of it is missed.. may even do a couple guides on compressions and flow rates.

what area you from btw dave?
