Correct, it was me. Some tosser decided to make a right U turn from the nearside lane across my lane just as I was overtaking him, his front corner hit me in the side sending me over the bar's. Lucky for me we were only going about 30mph, poor Beryl has front panel/inner leg shield/floor board/front brake lever damage, still rideable after putting the bar's straight. Now for the long wait for the insurers to sort thing's out. :( What pisses me is all the 10 years I've owned her from new I've never dropped her down the road. :(

I'm a fare bit fed up because I should have been more awake, I tell my Daughter when she's out on her scooter to watch out for tw*ts cutting her up, 32 years of riding on the road and I get knobbled. This is the second time it's happened to me, It was about 85" the last time. I thought I was more aware and experienced not to have this happen to me and that I could read situations, it's shown and taught me to be even more aware! It sure ain't going to stop me riding that I do know!:D

    Marsh,
Don't take this the wrong way mate, I don't want to seem unsympathetic or possibly upset you but.......
Don't beat yourself up, nobody is 110% all the time. If we could predict with 100% accuracy what every other person/driver is going to do before they do it, then insurance premiums wouldn't exist, deaths on the road due to careless drivers would be zero, pigs would fly and elephants would dance around like the telly tubbies.
    It's just not possible.
If somebody had come out of a side road and 't' boned you, would you say you should have been more aware?
Or a stolen vehicle knocks you off from behind? You should have paid more attention to your mirrors and you might have seen them coming?
    No.
It's not your fault. It's the drivers fault for not looking properly before he made the move. Let it go or it will eat you alive and you'll end up one of those overly hesitant drivers that doesn't need to be on the road.
Think of it this way; another two seconds and you would of gone broadside into the car.
    Still not your fault.
Think of it as you got away lightly due to some idiots carelessness.
Rather lose a treasured bike than a limb or your life.

    Blip on the radar,
    Wake up call,
    Call it what you will-
lot to be said about floating around for
awhile / tends to give you a more realistic
view on things happening like this. :) .

Yes your both right, my Beryl is still going fine with only a few flesh wounds. I should stop and think of the 55 y/o bloke who died only 1/4 mile away on the same stretch of road only 2-3 weeks ago, it must be absolute sh*t for his family, I've got f*ck all to worry about apart from a bruised arse and a scuffed scooter. R.I.P that man and everyone on the site ride safe!

Found drivers have a tendency not to even notice riders at the best of times-
for the simple reason when in a car,you think car..
    I.e. you're encapsulated inside your own little world,so they're perception's of other road users does'nt have a 2 wheel focus. ;) .

Ever noticed how you can tell a person rides a bike when they drive a car?
They turn their heads to look.
