Was it a loose retaining nut? Did you hear any noises from the transmission casing?

probably the pulley sitting against the belt when tightend, the fan will rub in this case (im having trouble getting a new type pulley and fan to sit nice in my old shape case :msn1: :confused:arc: ) aslong as the pulley sits true and you have an adiquate tool to retighten the nut (impact wrench) there is no need for teeth on the pulley, the stock move like FUCK on even a new crank dw. just try put it all together (with the belt as low down on the clutch as it go's and pulled RIGHT over the variator) and see if anythings running untrue

    Thanks for the input guys.

The belt was definately high on the front pulley when i tightened it. Maybe the nut came loose. I used PTFE tape to keep the nut firm.

when i pulled the cover off, the nut was loose, but that may have been caused by the pulley spinning. The fan got destroyed when the pulley started spinning.

So minor, you would just bolt it all back together (tight) and see what happens?
All the teeth on the pulley have been worn off, and the teeth on the crank have been damaged slightly.

no, id put it all back together and see if it all turns true first (slowly) then reassemble with ptfe and thrreadlock. then staert it up and at idle look through the oil pump inspection window (where the gromit go's) and again check tis running true, if theres ANY iratic movment you will need to replace the front pulley at least, mabey the crank.

ok cool. ill give it a go.
so the pressure from the nut done up super tight will be enough to stop it spinning?

what are the teeth for then?

im almost looking for an excuse to pull it all apart again and do some porting.
